Rigoberto Gonzalez (RAiR 2008-09)

Rigoberto Gonzalez’s 2020 painting Refugees Crossing the Border Wall into South Texas was singled out, along with work by other artists in a newsletter from the White House addressing artwork at the Smithsonian Institution being “objectionable art.”

The painting was a competition finalist , and had been exhibited at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC.
