Hank Jensen †

Hank Jensen (1930-1999) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He studied art at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, served in the Navy as an Aviation Structural Mechanic, and received a BID from the Pratt Institute in 1958. Jensen was a sculptor who lived and worked in New York City and Vermont, where he studied with the abstract expressionist Hans Hofmann. In 1964 he was commissioned to do a stage construction for the Alwin Nikolais Dance Company in New York, and later that year he went to Florence to study sculpture on a Fulbright Grant. In 1968 he won a commission to build a 7.5 ton steel sculpture for Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont and was Artist-in-Residence at the college while constructing it. His sculptures consist of plywood, steel and fiberglass.
